I’m sure you’re all aware of the teen celebrity relationship between Justin Bieber and Selena Gomez. Especially since the hype about Justin being the alleged father of a girl’s baby and the paternity test, this couple has been in the spotlight often. First of all, they’re both well-known stars who are very successful, and second, many teenagers like Bieber and Gomez and their work. Do you care to take a guess at how much Bieber has spent on his dates with Selena? Over $1 million.
From the multiple vacations to the extravagent dates, the couple has spent a lot of time together on romantic outings. They spent time vacationing in Spain, and most recently they spent a long, romantic week together in Hawaii. Most teenagers would never have the means to vacation with their boyfriend/girlfriend for a week in Europe let alone Hawaii. What do their dates look like? They aren’t the typical “dinner and a movie” kind of nights. No, instead, he rents out an entire theatre for Gomez and himself and has food brought in. He takes her to hockey games where they sit in private rooms to be alone and romantic. A favorite extravagent date was one spent at the Staples Center for dinner and a movie. To buy only one VIP room in the center, it costs about $400,000 annually, so one can imagine it was a pretty penny to rent out the entire center for a night. Plus he had to spend at least a couple thousand on the giant screen to watch The Titanic, and let’s not forget about the steak dinner he ordered. The night, in total, cost at least $200,000 minimum.
As you can gather, their dates aren’t those of an average teenage couple. He is spending a lot of money on their nights/weeks out, and that’s not even factoring in the gifts he showers her with while on such dates. Do you think it’s a good thing that he’s spending this much money on his girlfriend? Do you think it’s necessary for a guy to spend a lot of money on a date, or do you think spending time regardless of the cost is enough? Let us know what you think!

Does Your Heart Always Know What’s Right?

We would all like to believe that following your heart will lead you into a happy life. People say that when you are in a relationship you will just know in your heart if it is right or not. People have a sense when they are with the person they are meant to be with, and when they are not. Shockingly, Kim Kardashian decided to file for divorce recently after only 72 days of marriage. She told the public that her reasons for divorcing Kris Humphries is because she got a feeling deep in her heart that she needed
to end the marriage. According to the press’ speculations, Kris had no idea that it was coming. However, a lot of people believe that Kim married Kris simply to make money off of the publicity for her wedding. That may be true. But if she really did love Kris and the wedding wasn’t a sham, then was it right for her to divorce him after only two months? Do you think that following your heart is a valid reason to divorce a man?
Personally I think that Kim should have consulted her heart before marrying Kris. No one should jump into a marriage before they know whether or not they want to be with that person. And yes, it is true to say that you don’t know what it is like to be married to someone until you are officially married. So she could have gotten married and then learned things about Kris that she didn’t like. However, I think you should try to make it work for more than two months.

But you may believe that the heart is always right. You can follow it and you will always be happy. I guess it’s just a matter of opinion.

Moving Mountains

Recently I read about a woman named Gerlinde Kaltenbrunner who climbed the second-highest mountain which had 14 of the world’s tallest peaks and was the first woman to do so without using any extra oxygen! This is an amazing accomplishment in itself, but to also be the first woman to succeed in this quest is outstanding. Now of days, women have a more active role in our culture than before the 19th century, however, we still have to work hard to make a title for ourselves in this world that is crafted towards men.
For example, if you read more
of Kaltenbrunner’s story, you will find that she didn’t accomplish this climb the first time, but had tried at least four times already. Those previous climbs were not without sacrifice either! It says in the article that several of her fellow climbers had died on some of those trips, one just occurring the year before.
This goes to show that you don’t have to give up if you don’t at first succeed. It will seem like the world is working against you, but if you truly look within yourself for strength and know that what you set your mind to you will accomplish, nothing can stand in your way. You don’t have to try to climb a K2 mountain to see how this works. You can easily apply this to your life in school, sports, extra-curricular activities, and future dreams. Set small goals for yourself and chose a route to take. If that route doesn’t work, try another, and another, until you reach your goal. This does take time and hard work, but don’t let being a female stop you from reaching your potential!

Thanksgiving is in 2 days!
I’m so excited! Turkey, mashed potates, cranberry sauce, and my family’s oddest tradition: clam dip and ruffles.
Thanksgiving and the holiday season is majorly concerned with food. And directly related to food, is weight gain. So many girls on my college campus are already talking about ways to shed or avoid holiday weight gain. Usually these ways are silly, sometimes they are dangerous, but most importantly: none of them work.
One of the hardest things a girl has to deal with is her body image. The media today bombards us with pictures of beautiful, flawless women flaunting handsome men on one arm and the latest Gucci bag on the other. However, these celebrities really aren’t as “beautiful” as we are tricked to think.
Check out Kelly Clarkson, before and after photoshop:

Can you spot all the differences?
All those magazine covers are pretty misleading as well.

So next time you look at a magazine and think, “She’s so perfect,” remember, no one is that perfect.
Even though no one is “perfect”, every girl is beautiful. So let yourself indulge this holiday season, because the benefits of good food and great company are so much better for your body than the latest fad diet.
