Get Fit in 2014!

It’s officially 2014… what are some of your New Years Resolutions? Maybe you want to do better in school, or start spending more quality time with family. Maybe you want to start reading more books instead of watching so much TV. Or if you’re like most Americans, maybe one of your goals for 2014 is to get healthier and start working out.

When you’re a teenager, you’re busy. You have school everyday, homework every night, and on top of that you’re trying to balance friends, family, sports and music groups, maybe you’re working a part time job and applying for colleges. So sometimes finding the time to exercise can be really difficult, but it’s very important. Even if you’re not necessarily trying to lose weight, an active and healthy lifestyle will give you more energy, make you less likely to get sick, improve your self-esteem and make you feel better overall. Believe me, it’s totally worth it!

A few years ago, I was browsing on Youtube to see if I could find any good work out videos, and I found this girl, Cassey Ho. Cassey started a Youtube channel called “Blogilates,” where she posts pilates work outs that are anywhere between 5 and 30 minutes long. Since then, she’s become a lot more popular and she now has her own pilates DVDs available in stores.

I started doing Cassey’s workouts almost everyday, and I started feeling SO much better and so healthy! I even showed her videos to all my friends, and they were hooked, too.

If I don’t feel up to going for a run, or if I don’t have the time to drive all the way to the gym, it sure is easy to put on shorts and a tshirt, pull up Youtube, and do a quick workout in my own home. If all I do is one of Cassey’s 10 minute workouts, that sure is better than nothing, and it hardly took any time at all! She has workouts for everything: arms, abs, legs, and even cardio. And she has workouts available for beginners, as well as tougher workouts for people who are already in pretty good shape. If you aren’t able to do one of her moves, she always has a modified version to make it a little easier for beginners, too. She’s super cool, and always plays really good music to get you pumped!

If you’re trying to get fit in 2014, I highly recommend doing Cassey’s workouts. Even though you might have a lot going on, remember to take the time to take care of yourself, too!
