Kool-Aid Lip Gloss

I don’t know about you but I tend to use a lot of lip gloss throughout this time of year. You will probably have an empty lip gloss pot at some point and instead of throwing it away, how about reusing it? With some coconut oil, a cheap packet of kool-aid and some sugar, you can make your own lip gloss for your empty lip gloss pot and not only will it be cheaper but you’re helping our environment by reusing and not throwing away. Here’s the directions to make your own lip gloss:

  • 2 Tbsp. Coconut Oil
  • 1/2 package of Kool-Aid
  • enough water to form a paste
  • 1 tsp. sugar or to taste
Step 1: Start by softening your coconut oil. I heat the oil in the microwave for 5 seconds and then stir vigorously. You don’t want to overheat it, it should not be in liquid form, but you could put it back in for another few seconds if it is too firm.
Step 2: In another cup, pour in about half of the Kool-Aid. Add just enough water to form a paste and see the color. Whisk in your sugar and add it into your softened coconut oil a little at a time till you achieve the desired color.

Step 3:If you have a small whisk you can use it but if not a normal whisk is fine, and then maybe some elbow grease to mix it all together. The oil and paste don’t mix well unless you work at it… just a little bit. Keep whisking untill most of the sugar has dissolved. Step 4: Spoon the gloss (it will still be a litle soft) into your container.Let them cool completely or refrigerate briefly to solidify the oil again.
Keep in mind that Kool-aid in those little packets can stain fingers, counter tops…etc…You might want to put something down that will prevent any issues with staining.
